Search Engine Optimisation

Search Engine Optimisation is essential for business owners today to understand, similar to e-commerce platforms as discussed in last weeks blog. But what is SOE? Search Engine Optimization in simple terms is the process of maximizing the number of visitors to a particular website by ensuring that the site appears high on the list of results returned by a search engine. Introduction - Me and my Blog!

Hey Guys! Welcome to my newly launched blog – The Digital Economist – where I will be discussing some hot topics surrounding the digital economy, looking into some related news and articles and of course, sharing my thoughts and ideas with you all. Very exciting.

Before we get started, here is a little bit about me: my name is Katlyn O Donnell, currently in my 4th year of a Bachelor of Business course specialising in Economics and Finance. I recently completed my work placement for 8 months in a fast-growing fund management company, and I was AMAZED at how the internet, IT and software played a huge and essential role in the day-to-day operations of the business. For example:

1. Using the in-house developed software every day for recording data, searching information, logging details, tracking, analysing and launching reports.

2. Using Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel.

3. Communication through the use of emails, teams calls, zoom, messages etc.

4. Utilising all of the above to work from home.

I realised the business runs completely on digital efficiency – so when my timetable for this Semester of college had a module named ‘Digital Economy’ I was thrilled 😊 It ties into everything I experienced in my workplace and let’s face it, with how fast our digital economy is growing…. We will all experience it anywhere and everywhere we go from now on!

Feel free to comment any topic ideas that you guys would like to see! I will be posting again very soon so stay tuned ✌
